ABOUT MICKEL THERAPY

More about Mickel Therapy

Mickel Therapy is based on the hypothesis that the Hypothalamus gland in the brain - which normally regulates everything in the body - can become overactive creating a wide range of symptoms.

It is thought that this happens as a result of accidentally ignoring emotions which leads the emotional brain to inlist the help of the hypothalamus to get our attention by sending us symptoms; it is the emotional brain's way of shouting louder at us to evoke a reaction.

Mickel Therapy gives people the guidance and tools to effectively listen to their body, translate symptoms back into emotions and take appropriate action. When we do this, the need for symptoms and, therefore the symptoms themselves, should disappear.

What can I expect?

I offer a free initial telephone consultation and after that sessions usually last an hour. They are delivered either face-to-face, by Skype, or over the phone – whichever suits you best.

The average number of sessions needed by clients is around 8 - 12, however this can vary, depending on the client’s situation and ability to put the theory into practice.

Sessions are weekly for the first 3 weeks and every 2 - 3 weeks, thereafter.

Clients will be asked to keep notes about frequency of symptoms and situations when they arise. Other relevant activities and tools may also be given to clients to work on outside of sessions.

About Me

A few years ago, I decided to change career paths; I had spent a decade teaching drums and percussion to children but I knew this wasn’t my purpose or passion. I came to the realisation that I wanted to help people to enjoy life and realise their potential by helping them to overcome emotional difficulties, so I embarked on training to become a Counsellor.

However, during this time, the opportunity arose to train as a Mickel Therapist. For years I had watched my Mum suffer from M.E. and the seemingly endless symptoms that go with it. I felt so helpless – it seemed as if there was no cure and no end in sight. The doctors filled her with prescription medication to try and combat the symptoms but she continued to suffer, having to be medically retired and registered as disabled due to the severity of the condition.

She began a course of Mickel Therapy but was unable to continue with it, which saddens me as it she had begun to see a noticeable improvement after only a couple of sessions. I wish she had been able to have more…what a difference it would have made to her life.

When I found out more about this therapy, I jumped at the chance to train as a practitioner to raise awareness of the fact that M.E. and other such conditions, like Fibromyalgia, IBS, Anxiety and Depression could be treated effectively, and to help give those suffering their lives back.

I love my work as it is amazing to see the transformation that can take place in clients as both their physical and emotional health improve dramatically and beyond their expectations; turning what they had once only dreamed of into reality.
