In accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), this document tells you what information I hold about you, why it is held and how it is stored.  I am responsible for the gathering and security of your personal information. All information is treated in the strictest of confidence.

In order to give professional treatment and advice, I need to gather and retain information about your health and wellbeing.  The lawful basis for which I hold and use this information is Legitimate Interest, in order to provide you with the best possible treatment.  Because I hold what is classed as special category information, ie health related, the Additional Condition under which I hold and use this information is for me effectively to fulfil my role as a healthcare practitioner.

I store information about your health and wellbeing, and use this purely for the purposes of carrying out the therapy and offering support and advice when required.  The information I hold is as follows:

• Your contact details

• Health history and other pertinent advice relating to your general health and wellbeing

• Session details and related notes

These records are kept in the original paper format in a secure filing system, to which only I have access, or in electronic format, together with emails, where applicable, which are kept securely on a password protected personal computer, or password protected device such as a mobile phone or tablet to which only I have access.  Electronic mailing lists are kept purely for the purposes of notifying you of sessions, updates, workshops, wellbeing events, and health information, as requested by you.

As a condition of my training as a Mickel Therapy practitioner I may need to share information with my supervisor for the purpose of providing you with treatment of the highest possible standard. The supervisor is bound by the same privacy policy.

I will keep your information for a period of seven years after your last treatment session, as required by my insurers, after which I will destroy your records securely. I am committed to ensuring the confidentiality, safety, and security of your personal information and have put appropriate technical and physical safeguards in place to do so.

Therapy sessions facilitated by telephone, WhatsApp, Skype & Facetime are live sessions and not recorded or stored.

Important information:-

If during our sessions I have cause to become seriously concerned for your health and wellbeing to the extent that I believe you may be at risk of harming yourself or others I have a duty of care to take the following action:-

Alert you to my concerns.

I may need to inform a suitable healthcare provider or person in authority.
